Mission and Vision

The Statesville Historical Collection cultivates understanding, appreciation, and respect for the rich history of Statesville and surrounding Iredell County communities by showcasing captivating artifacts, cherished memorabilia, heartfelt stories, and nostalgic songs that connect generations.

The vision of the Statesville Historical Collection is to become a regional learning center:

1. To embrace the important responsibility of collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting historical and cultural stories, documents, images and artifacts of significance to the heritage of Statesville and Iredell County, NC. 
2. To embrace the value of accurate research in understanding the history of diverse cultures while practicing the highest professional standards in collecting, preserving, researching, interpreting, and sharing objects and information.
3. To identify and promote the significant contributions the Statesville and Iredell County communities and people have made to national and state culture and history.
4. To provide for experiences that capture the unique small-town atmosphere which has enabled the community to thrive and maintain a rich quality of life for citizens and a unique educational experience for tourists.
5. To support and compliment state and local organizations with similar interests in local history interpretation and preservation.
6. To provide resources and assistance for professional and amateur historians and genealogists, through interactive exhibits, collections, and innovative programing.
