The Statesville Historical Collection is home to a vast array of items that tell the story of our community’s past. From the smallest tin tags used for chewing tobacco to the monumental 1961 Statesville Police Department "paddy wagon," our collection spans diverse artifacts, including unique items like the world's smallest Bible, antique advertising, and memorabilia from local businesses, sports teams, and more. Every item has a story, offering a fascinating glimpse into the people and events that have shaped Statesville and Iredell County.
Here are a few of the things featured in the collection:
The Statesville Historical Collection has many resources for research. We have thousands of photographs relating to housing and architecture, we have a variety of maps and government documents. Additionally, we have a library that extensively covers both local history and covers some North Carolina History as well.
We encourage researchers to stop by and explore our various resources we have on hand.
We are excited to offer field trips and group tours at the Statesville Historical Collection! While we are currently working with limited staffing, we are happy to accommodate group visits and provide engaging educational experiences. More details will be available soon. In the meantime, please submit any inquiries or requests below, and we will be in touch to help coordinate your visit. Stay tuned for further updates!
