The New Gallery

In the summer of 2014, the collection opened in a new home at 212 North Center Street, in beautiful downtown Statesville. Some may remember this as the former Gordon’s Furniture Store. It is next door to Special Treasures, and across the street from CVS Drugs.

This exhibit space is made possible by the generosity of the Gordon Family.

Also, a big thanks goes out to the Children’s Homes of Iredell County for their support, and to Jimmy Douglas with Douglas & Sons, Inc. for providing storage for the remainder of the collection.

Finally, some of our favorite photographs can be seen at other temporary exhibits.  Check out the office of Dr. Heather Day, Statesville Vision Center, located at 925 Thomas Street, Statesville (on the hill to the left of the Highway Patrol Station/Drivers License Offices). A recreation of the 1950s downtown landmark, Candyland, can be seen in the front display window of the City Center at 211 South Center Street. Additional mini exhibits can be seen at 220 Cafe, 220 South Center Street, and at Diane’s Court Street Cafe at 110 Court Street in beautiful Downtown Statesville.

Also, the 212 South Center Street exhibit is still available to visitors by appointment, 704 397-6959.

Help keep local history alive.
